Fatal Error
Firstly thanks for this terrific plugin. I have been using it for several weeks and I've had many positive comments on how good the site looks with it on, so a big thank you.

However, for some reason we having been getting random problems with the following message "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 40 bytes) in /home/fleafm/public_html/wp-includes/meta.php on line 197".

If we refresh after this it will usually work. I've now deactivated until we resolve the issue.

Can you help me with any possible idea's?

John
Just to add to the above. I checked the error logs on the server and it's reporting the below error? Does this help?

/home/fleafm/public_html//wp-content/plugins/featurific-for-wordpress/data_1268016584.xml

RE: Fatal Error
Hi John!

Thanks for your message and your patience. There are two things that we can start out with:

1) Do you know when Featurific generates these errors? Is it immediately after you write a post/update Featurific? If so, you can set the Featurific data.xml generation frequency to something really high (like 99999 minutes). Then, after you write a post that you want to feature in Featurific, just disable and re-enable the plugin to manually generate the data.xml file. This will prevent site visitors from receiving the error, and Featurific should still work as expected.

2) Some more thoughts here: http://featurific.com/support/thread-68-...tml#pid222

Does this help?

RE: Fatal Error
The error is generated on nearly every occasion that the page is refreshed. However I can't even get the plugin to display now and all I can see is a blank page. I've tried on numerous times to deactivate, delete files, re-install and reactivate but I'm now getting this message "Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.".

The only data.xml file is a data.xml.php file, is that correct?

I have sent you an email regarding help to resolve this? Thanks John

RE: Fatal Error
Hi John,

I've responded to your email. Also, note that sometimes this error occurs when downloading large remote images for use in the slideshow (they must be cached locally). Some web servers run out of memory when performing this operation. So, one way to avoid this error is to save the remote image files yourself to your web server, and then reference those instead.

Could this be the issue?

RE: Fatal Error
Thanks Rich,

I guess potentially it could. however it was working without probs and then stopped and now completely! My guess it's a data.xml corrupt file issue or a conflict with another plugin perhaps.

All in all it needs someone who knows what to do to fix it.

Thanks again for the help!

John

RE: Fatal Error
Rich,

When the home page loads, this error message is appearing! Don't know if it helps?

RE: Fatal Error
Hey John,

This is an error as reported by the Flash portion of Featurific. The problems we're having are related to the PHP portion. Tongue

However, your message did inspire me to try one last thing - switching the data.xml generation method to 'dynamic'. It looks like it's working again! Can you please verify?
